Just as we have begun to recover from the case of Yeardley Love another young college student has been murdered by her boyfriend. This time, 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut was found beaten to death in her dorm room at the State University of New York at Brockport on September 29, 2012. Police arrested her boyfriend hours later at a New York Thruway rest stop. Clayton Whittemore, 21, claimed to police that he and Alexandra got into a shoving match and that he “just snapped.” According to the police report released Oct. 17, Whittemore beat Alexandra, first with his fists and then to death with a curling iron when her breathing sounded bad because he loved her and did not want her to suffer. He has plead not guilty; his arraignment on murder charges is Oct. 25.
